Requesting a Leave of Absence
In certain circumstances, an employee may need to take a significant amount of time away from work that exceeds their PTO balance. The company offers an 'Unpaid Leave of Absence' (LOA) for personal, educational, or humanitarian reasons. To be eligible, you must have at least one year of tenure and a history of strong performance. LOA requests must be submitted in writing to your manager and HR at least 60 days in advance. During an unpaid leave, your salary is suspended, and you are responsible for paying the full cost of your health insurance premiums. While we cannot always guarantee that your exact position will be held for you, we will make every effort to find a comparable role upon your return. Taking a leave is a major decision, and we encourage you to discuss the implications with your HRBP before submitting a formal request.
The Professional Sabbatical Program
To reward our long-tenured staff, we offer a 'Professional Sabbatical' program. After five years of continuous service, employees are eligible for 4 weeks of paid sabbatical leave in addition to their standard PTO. This is a time for deep rest, travel, or the pursuit of a personal project that is unrelated to work. Sabbaticals must be approved by your Department Head to ensure that your absence doesn't negatively impact critical business cycles. We believe that these periods of extended rest are vital for long-term career sustainability and innovation. When you return from sabbatical, we invite you to share a brief presentation or Slack post about your experiences with the team. Investing in your long-term wellness is an investment in the future of the company. We value your commitment and are proud to offer this unique benefit. Enjoy your time to recharge.
